Thinking slowly is not the same thing as thinking ineffectively. A common misconception is to associate slow thinking with dumbness. In reality, it seems that slowness increases efficency and intelligence in any situation. Being deliberetively slow allows the brain to analyse any idea more entirely, taking into account more factors than it could normally handle. As a result, the quality of our thoughts is inherently improved, our faculties to analyse, observe and take steps back are automatically augmented. Rushing to conclusions is both the most common and the most injurious intellectual problem in our species. It has caused 'stupid' mistakes in math, physics and biology as well as political, social and other sciences. A good link: Logical Fallacies
